Illinois Wheat Field is an installation of fused glass panels commissioned by Heartland Community College for their permanent collection. This piece was inspired by the stretch of countryside along I55 between Joliet and Bloomington, IL. I have driven the road countless times between my hometown of Downers Grove, IL and where I now reside in Bloomington.

By adjusting the ratio of brown bottles to clear bottles before shoveling into the furnace I can achieve a range of values and colors. Each line of glass is gathered from the furnace and pulled out by hand.
